History of Streamline Design
The name of our company, Streamline Properties, is taken from the Streamline architectural and design style that flourished in the United States during the 1930s through the 1950s. From trains, planes and automobiles to Miami Beach buildings, Streamline design is characterized by aerodynamic smoothness - to minimize resistance and maximize efficient motion.
The Streamline Design Style
The Streamline Style stood for mobility, speed, efficiency and luxury, all concepts that were identified with modernity. To visualize this, sharp corners of objects were rounded off and speed lines were created by introducing ribs or gleaming chrome strips. This design was not arrived at on the basis of scientific requirements for optimal air flow, but was a clichéd expression of that, like the architectural eyebrows on the Art Deco buildings in Miami Beach.
Streamlining has become a metaphor for progress, symbolizing the increased momentum of modern life and the efficiency and speed to master it.
